Job Description: Reporting to the VP, F&A, the Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the company’s accounting operations, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and managing full-cycle accounting processes. This role focuses on accurate financial reporting, supervising the accounting team, drafting technical accounting memos, and ensuring compliance with direct and indirect taxes and other regulatory requirements. The Accounting Manager implements internal controls, develops accounting policies, and supports the audit process to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy. This is an in-office role with flexibility to work from home from time to time.
Compensation: $100,000-$110,000
Location: Corporate Head Office – Richmond BC
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee full-cycle accounting processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with reporting standards.
- Oversee project accounting and job cost accounting, including percentage of completion calculations, ensuring accurate revenue recognition.
- Consolidate financial statements for multi-entity organizations, addressing intercompany transactions and ensuring compliance with GAAP.
- Conduct financial analysis, including variance analysis, budget comparisons, and presenting key insights and narratives to management.
- Supervise and develop the accounting team, ensuring effective task delegation and training to enhance team performance.
- Draft and review technical accounting memos for complex transactions, ensuring compliance with GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial assets and ensure the integrity of financial reporting.
- Draft, update, and enforce accounting policies and procedures, identifying opportunities for process improvements to streamline accounting operations.
- Ensure compliance with government regulations for direct and indirect taxes, including GST/HST, PST, and other statutory filings.
- Coordinate with external auditors, providing necessary documentation and facilitating a smooth audit process.
- Assist in managing cash flow, preparing forecasts, and monitoring working capital to ensure the company meets liquidity needs.
- Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and support special projects as required.
Requirements:
- CPA Designation.
- Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting experience with a strong focus on full-cycle accounting and project accounting.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of ASPE.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics GP.
- Strict adherence to confidentiality in all aspects of the role.
